Jason Hood is introduced, walking into the Sheriff's Department. He has a seat, before the receptionist asks if he needs any help. He wants to see Sheriff Hood, and when asked what his name is, he responds, "Jason Smith". A few moments later, he enters Hood's office to speak privately, where Jason reveals that the sheriff, is not his father. They proceed to have dinner, where Sheriff Hood reveals the past, of Jason's actual father's death. When Sheriff Hood questions why Jason is running, either from taking something that doesn't belong to him, or having had sex with someone he wasn't supposed to, Jason responds to Sheriff Hood's questions with "one of those things."
Sheriff Hood sympathizes with Jason's plight, and agrees to give Jason a new identity. After Sheriff Hood leaves, Sugar threatens Jason not to pose a threat to Sheriff Hood or else.
Season 2 Episode 4: "Bloodlines"
Sheriff Hood introduces Job to Jason as he's sleeping.
Later, Job almost runs his car into Jason, who's sitting on a curb eating nachos. Job blatantly displays his displeasure as Jason is supposed to be staying in the hotel. Jason follows Job back.
Sitting at the bar, Jason asks Job when his new identity will be ready, to which Job snaps that it isn't easy. Because of his anger, Job decides to change Jason's name to "Miriam".
At Miles Diner, Rebecca sits alone, drinking. She notices Jason staring at her, and asks him "Is there something I can help you with?" Jason responds, "You look so sad", and proceeds to sit next to her. He asks if she'd like some company, and she admits that any other night, she'd say no. In a later scene, she lays lifeless during intercourse with Jason, and refuses to let him enjoy her body.
Season 2 Episode 6: "Armies of One"
Sheriff Hood gives Jason his new credentials, to which Jason hugs Hood excitedly. Suddenly, a man and his partner walks into the bar, telling Sugar, "I'll have what Jason's having". The man sits down across Jason and asks "Where's the money?"
Sheriff Hood then asks Sugar, "Don't you have some sort of house rules about guns?" to which Sugar responds, "Yeah, no guns." The man's partner, Clover, responds, "Well then, we might have a problem." while raising his tommy gun. Sugar immediately shoots him with a shotgun which ignites a fight between the suited man and Sheriff Hood. As a result, Sheriff Hood interrogates Jason about the money.
Later, Sheriff Hood confronts Jason about where the $62,000 is, and Jason reveals the money hidden inside the toilet tank. Hood finds only $49,000 in cash. Jason admits he's been using some of it to get away. Sheriff Hood promises to figure something out after Jason's panic.
On a bridge, Hood negotiates with Quinton, trading $62,000 with an additional $50,000 as bribe money, for Quinton to tell his superiors that Jason is dead. Quinton agrees and tells Hood that he's sorry for his loss. Hood is confused, to which Quinton clarifies that he's sorry for the loss of Hood's son.
After their negotiation, the armed Sheriff Hood stands on the dark road, anticipating Quinton's arrival. Quinton stops and Jason can be heard from the trunk. Quinton admits Jason is in the trunk, apologizing due to "professional pride". Sheriff Hood puts the gun down and a fight ensues. Quinton's head is decapitated by an oncoming truck and Sheriff Hood tells Jason to go with him.
At the motel, Sheriff Hood gives Jason the original Lucas Hood's watch. A sincere thanks is exchanged and Hood reminds Jason that after this, there are no second chances.
At the bar, Jason eyes Rebecca Bowman. Sugar warns him that she isn't worth the trouble. Jason ignores his advice and proceeds to spend the night with Rebecca. As he is on top of her, Clay Burton comes in and strangles Jason to death. Clay cleans the room and removes the evidence. During the process, Jason's new watch falls to the ground
