Jonathan Tropper, born February 19, 1970 in Riverdale, New York, USA, is an author and motion picture writer and producer. He is the co-creator of Banshee with David Schickler. He is an Executive Producer and writer for the series. He is known as the author of the novels Plan B (2000), The Book of Joe (2004), Everything Changes (2005), How To Talk to a Widower (2007), and This Is Where I Leave You (2009). His sixth novel One Last Thing Before I Go will be published in August 2012.

Early life[]
He studied English as an undergraduate and then went on to get a Master's degree in Creative Writing at New York University.
Career[]
After college he spent eight years running a Manhattan-based company that manufactured displays for jewelry companies. He wrote at nights and on weekends, ultimately publishing his first novel, Plan B in 2000. The book soon attracted the attention of an agent, allowing him to quit his day job and become a full-time writer.
He published his second novel The Book of Joe in 2004. The book was optioned for filming at auction within a week of publication. It is in development with actor and director Ed Burns. The adaptation is expected to shoot in fall 2012.
He published his third novel Everything Changes in 2005. It was a Booksense selection.
Tropper's fourth book, How to Talk to a Widower, was the 2007 selection for The Richard and Judy Show in the United Kingdom.
Tropper's fifth book, This Is Where I Leave You, was released in August 2009 and is a New York Times bestseller. In March 2012 it was annouched that Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages) has signed on to direct the movie of This Is Where I Leave You, which Tropper adapted for Warner Bros.
The themes of his books all appear to stem from the authors personal experiences as they deal with topics such as being single, growing up, getting marries fddtgfdfc , being married, and living in suburbia. Tropper's hometown of New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York is a main source of inspiration when creating the characters and settings in his books.
Tropper is also currently working on the television series Banshee, which will be filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The show is expected to debut in winter 2013. He co-wrote the pilot script with David Schickler for HBO/Cinemax. A ten episode order was placed based on their pilot and they have signed on to write the rest of the first season.
His sixth novel One Last Thing Before I Go will be published in August 2012. The book has already been optioned by Paramount pictures for director J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek).
